3.1. Concentration of alcohol in the blood after ingestion of the different alcoholic beverages
The variation in the plasma BAC values observed in men and women over the 6 h after the ingestion of the alcoholic beverages is shown in Fig. 1A and B, respectively. In men, it was observed that the maximum BAC was reached more quickly after ingestion of the
distilled beverages (cachaça and whisky) than after ingestion of the fermented beverages (beer and wine). In women, the maximum BAC was reached more quickly after ingestion of whisky. Beer was the beverage that resulted in the lowest BAC values in volunteers of both genders over the course of the test.
