Le pont Saint-Martial - Limoges (FR). The Saint-Martial in Limoges, was constructed in 1215 on the foundations of a Gallo-Roman bridge. This bridge was originally built by the Romans to cross the Vienna dry and facilitated exchanges and on the road linking Avaricum (Bourges) and southern Gaul. In 1182, Henry II, King of England, Duke of Aquitaine and therefore overlord of Limoges, was destroying the Gallo-Roman bridge to punish the city of his infidelity.
