The linseed stem anatomy shows the same arrangement. However,
the linseed phenotype is exceptional. The linseed plant grows
up to 40–60 cm tall. Its leaves are grayish green, 20–40 mm long
and 3 mm broad. In over 60% of cases, the flowers are blue in color,
15–20 mm in diameter and have five petals. The seeds are medium
brown (ca. 95% cultivars) or yellow (ca. 4% cultivars), 4–7 mm long
and become sticky when wet. The color ofthe seeds depends on the
variety. The linseed life cycle consists of 116–130 days of vegetative
period, 45–60 days of flowering period and a maturation period of
60–90 days (Zajac˛ et al., 2005).
