largest, CEO Jeffrey Kindler decided to restructure Pfizer's research and development unit into two parts, one for small molecules or traditional pills and one for large molecules or drugs made from living cells. Kindler said, “Creating two distinct, but complementary, research organizations, led by the top scientist from each company, will provide sharper focus, less bureaucracy and clearer accountability in drug discovery.”14 In all, the new company will consist of nine businesses, including primary care, vaccines, oncology, consumer and nutritional products, and pharmaceuticals.
