New abstract
The purpose of this research is to investigate the understanding of children on safety signs used in daily life and design a proper safety sign in order to increase the children's understanding. The safety signs which were frequently used in public place such as department store, public transport, school etc. were surveyed. Thirty safety signs were initially included in evaluation paper. The evaluation paper was checked for difficulty and reliability. According to this process, ten safety signs were excluded. 534 students from 3 primary schools (grade 1-6) in Hatyai were tested by using the evaluation paper. It was found that the students in grade 1 got lowest score. The most of safety signs were gained more than 75% children's understanding. The safety sign understanding
