Fig. 7 and Fig. 8 show the results of aged fingermarks on plastic and metal, respectively that were developed with the acid-modified IC powder. Fingermarks from age of 1 day, 7 days and up to 14 days were developed using the acid-modified IC powder. Clear ridge details are seen for fingermarks on day 1 and day 7 compared to day 14 for both surfaces. The ridge details of the developed fingermark weakened as the age of the fingermark increased. The details of the developed fingermark depend on the moisture and oil components of the fingermark deposits [7]. Therefore as the age of the fingermark increased, the moisture and oil components tend to evaporate thus less powder is collected on the ridges of the fingermark.
