Pomegranate fruit can be divided into several anatomical compartments: (1) outside peel, (2) inside peel (pellicles), and (3) arils (pulp and seeds). Arils are usually used for fresh consumption, juice, jams and jellies production, and also for developing extracts to be used as ingredients in medicinal herb preparations and dietary supplements (Goula and Adamopoulos, 2012).
