Preinocula of Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain NRRL Y-2034
were grown in 300 mL Erlenmeyer flasks with 75 mL yeast peptone
(YP) media supplemented with 5% (w/v) dextrose at 32 C and
200 rpm for 24 h. Yeast and bacterial cells were harvested by centrifugation
at 4000g, 4 C for 15 min and resuspended in phosphate
buffered saline to an OD600 of 80 and 8 for the yeast and bacteria,
respectively.
Liquefied corn mash was obtained from a co
