As a professor and a speaker, co author Ana notices that many people just go through life responding automatically, in a knee-jerk fashion, to all that it presents to them. They go through the phases unconsciously-without an aim and without any knowledge almost of what is really moving them, motivating them, and making them tick. Many of us live in the illusion that we can go through life without completely taking charge or taking responsibility for what we do, say, act, or think. People make the excuse that life or work can be so complex and unexpected that they just react to whatever happens to them or do what the boss tells them.
