Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Thursday morning left for a two-day official visit to Singapore at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
He was accompanied by his wife Naraporn, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Gen Tanasak Patimapagorn, PM's secretary-general and government spokesman Gen Wilas Arunsri and many other officials.
The visit, his first to SIngapore, is for Gen Prayut to officially introduce himself as prime minister. He also hopes to convince Singapore's public and private sectors of Thailand's political and economic stability. He will attend an informal meeting with Singapore leaders to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The prime minister will pay a courtesy call on Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam and attend a leaders' retreat with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and other relevant ministers.
He will also visit Thai athletes taking part in the 28th SEA Games in Singapore.
Gen Prayut and his entourage are scheduled to return to Thailand on Friday at 5pm.
