The “Age-Standardised Death Rate for Singapore” presents a new summary indicator of mortality. By removing the effects of age structure variations in population composition, it enables a meaningful comparison of death rates in Singapore over time. Over the last decade, the age-standardised death rate fell from 4.2 deaths per 1,000 residents in 2004 to 3.2 deaths in 2014.
