Gustav Hendrich's Summary
As a professional researcher and historian I have become fully acquainted with the utilization of archival and historical sources.
In the process of working with historical documents or sources I am highly organized in order to conduct any instruction independently.
Apart from the emphasis on acquiring a fundamental historical understanding and knowledge of the past, I seek to incorporate a multidisciplinary approach in my writing and research method.
Concurrently with my studies I also found it preferable to develop my language capability in German, Dutch, Russian and Japanese.
I am interested in local, global political affairs, international relations and the increasing importance of environmental issues.
Between 2004 and 2010 I worked as research assistant for the Department of History at the University of Stellenbosch. I was also the personal research assistant for Prof. H.B. Giliomee, and have amongst others, contributed significantly in his book, Nog altyd hier gewees: ‘n storie van ‘n Stellenbosse gemeenskap (2007). I also fulfilled a supportive role in the New Illustrated History of South Africa.
Within the field of history and research in general, I strive for academic excellence and greatly value the necessity for quality conservation of historical documents and information sources.
