Conclusion
There are a large number of promising substances
that can defend the skin against the damaging effects
of sun following topical application. However, since
many of them have only been investigated in vitro
and in animal models, studies are needed to provide
evidence to support their use in humans. It is difficult
to ensure complete and safe photoprotection with
topical products because they are affected after
application by washing, sweating, wiping, and rubbing.
Oral photoprotective products that can be used to
complement topical sunscreens have been developed to
address this problem.
