We went to Bangkok over a long weekend from Cambodia where I work. My wife spent fair amount of her time searching on the web a good and convenient hotel while planning the trip. We had a pleasant experience last year of booking a hotel at Kuala Lumpur through Agoda.
VIE Hotel was a mixed experience. While the hotel is generally of high quality, there certainly exist some areas that need improvement, top of the list being usually not very attentive and laid back attitude of the staff at the entrance and reception. They do not bother to greet you and keep a stern look at their faces. Response time is poor as it took three reminder calls at Guest Service to complain about the room door repair work that started without our permission while we were out. Even then, it took an hour or so before we were given our privacy back. Request to change our room was denied.
On the positive side, indeed the hotel location is ideal with MBK and SIAM PARAGON shopping malls at walking distance (if you are ready to walk for 15-20 minutes). Breakfast is mouthwatering and it was really something looking forward to every morning. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, though we could not get any view of outside from there.
On the whole, I would rate VIE Hotel 7 out of 10.
