Neat PLA exhibited non-linear elastic behavior with a tensile strength of 60 MPa and an elongation at break of 2.4%. None of composites including the neat PLA showed signs of stress yielding. This lack of stress yielding suggested that the mechanism behind the elongation and rupture of the composites was similar compared to the neat PLA. Tensile strength (46 MPa) and elongation at break (2.2%) for PLA + PHB composite were lower than those of PLA. PLA + PHB composites have already been investigated in terms of their mechanical properties, and both tensile strength and elongation
at break improved with PLA content because of the better mechanical properties of PLA ). Babu and Woods also observed similar phenomena that tensile strength and elongation at break decreased with 10 wt.% PHB in PLA matrix
