Here’s a quick and easy whole – class incentive program that can be used alone or to supplement an existing program. to kick it off, begin by stating the expected behaviors for the the class. You may want to provide a visual reminder by writing them on the board or pointing them out if they are already posted in the classroom. Next , explain to students that they, as a team, will earn points for demonstrating the expected behaviors. However you the teacher will earn point for identifying student who are not following the expected behaviors. For example, if one of the expectations is for students to wait to be called on before speaking, the student team each time the class meets this expectation-while you earn a point if someone talks out without waiting to be called on. As the goal of this incentive program is to shape and reinforce appropriate classroom behavior, allow students to improve by giving a warning before you earn a point. Do this by writing a question mark or a dotted tally next to your score. If behavior improves, erase the warning if not you earn the point.
