Intensive AT-EI Services
This approach to providing for the safety and indepen- dence needs of physically frail older persons included a com- prehensive functional assessment of the person and the home by an occupational therapist, recommendations for needed assistive devices and/or home modifications (AT-EIs), pro- vision of the devices and modifications, training in their use, and continued follow-up with assessment and provision of AT-EIs as needs changed. An interdisciplinary team, which included a nurse and a technician experienced in home modi- fications, assisted the occupational therapist. (Details of the intervention protocol are available from the authors.)
