Tubers were collected from two wild plants commonly found in an open woody thickest northwest of Kinondoni district (6°47′0″ South, 39°16′0″ East) Dar-es salaam, Tanzania. These plants were morphologically identified at the Department of Botany (University of Dar es salaam) as D. sansibarensis (DS) and P. kaurabassana (PK) and afterwards confirmed by molecular techniques.
