The various criticalities of the Alzheimer's Unit, individuated by the committee group, emerged more clearly from the words and report made by the committee group in the first meeting and in the following interview with the director of the geriatric ward. The flagged criticalities were: distress in patients such as a greater restlessness; distress in practitioners who appeared especially fatigued (in relations with patients and informal caregivers) and in some cases, unmotivated in their work; complaints received from informal caregivers, for example during scheduled reception times. The intervention request thus stemmed from a need for greater understanding and appropriate management of these criticalities, which were also connected to concerns regarding a possible drop in demand for services and assistance for Alzheimer's sufferers.
