Since 2011 our School Enterprise Challenge business start-up competition has reached over 24,000 young people in over 90 countries.
The School Enterprise Challenge competition is open to all formal educational institutes in all countries around the world. The competition supports teachers and students to work together to plan and launch a profitable business which also creates a positive social and environmental impact.
The competition has been recognised for excellence and innovation. In April the programme was announced as a short-listed finalist in the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) Awards. Read more about our nomination at http://www.wise-qatar.org/awards.
The competition is in three stages. In Stage 1, teams come up with an idea for a school based enterprise. In Stage 2, they work together to write a business and financial plan, supported by our step-by-step guides. We provide feedback on all plans and in Stage 3 the schools launch their enterprise and run it for at least a term, before submitting a final report.
Schools do not have to start on a large scale to stand a good chance of winning; we want schools to start enterprises with whatever resources are available to them. Recycle waste materials from the community into beautiful jewellery, set up a school garden and sell your produce, create a theatre company and put on shows in nearby towns - it doesn't have to take a lot to get started, just some entrepreneurial creativity!
This is a fantastic opportunity to generate additional income for your school! Participating schools also gain access to a suite of free educational resources, the opportunity to partner with international schools and professional business mentors, as well as the chance to win a share of over USD $50,000 worth of prizes!
