or metabolism of unsaturated fatty acids may be involved in the
observed sex-based differences in serum GLA and DGLA concentrations.
If differences in serum GLA and DGLA concentrations can
be used for disease diagnosis, care should be taken to determine
the normal ranges for men and women, and further studies should examine potential sex-based differences in the levels of these fatty
acids in more detail.
