The EFB has an HHV of 17.02 MJ/kg, a value slightly lower than that reported in the literature for wood and coal (Azali et al., 2005, Demirbas, 2004 and Yang et al., 2006); however, the value is consistent with the higher oxygen and lower carbon contents in the EFBs.
