Pink Crab Disease (PCD) is caused when a crab becomes infected with a
parasite. The disease is easily seen as a pink colouration of the carapace and
appendages. The crab’s blood changes to a milky-white color and loss it clotting ability.
This research describes a possible pathogen that infects the hemocyte of Mud crab,
S. serrata. The data shown that the crab becomes infected by the parasitic Sacculina
granifera and Vibrio parahemolyticus.
