Third, at the international level, only a few websites are available. The ‘Breeds of Livestock’ website run by the University of Oklahoma (http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/ ) describes a respectable number of breeds of livestock, including cattle, goats, horses, sheep, pigs, buffalo, camelids and poultry, with differing degrees of detail. A similar website, solely for cattle, has been compiled by a South African company (http://www.embryoplus.com/cattle_breeds.html ). It contains phenotypic descriptions for about 140 of 950 listed breeds. As both websites are in English, they are useful for a wide audience.
