Help Nepal Earthquake Victims by Donating to the
American Red Cross
All of us are concerned about the devastation and suffering as a result of the Nepal earthquake. I’m sure you have heard the news regarding the effects of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the Nepal region on April 25. The earthquake affected an estimated eight million people in 39 of Nepal’s 75 districts, including Nepal’s two largest cities — greater Kathmandu and Pokhara. More than six million people live within 60 miles of the earthquake’s epicenter.
The earthquake also affected surrounding countries, resulting in damage in parts of Bangladesh, China and India. Immediate needs for people in these areas include food, water, shelter and medication. The United Nations reports that more than 1.4 million people need assistance due to the devastation.
I am pleased to announce that the Western Digital Foundation’s Board of Directors swiftly approved a $100,000 donation which has been sent directly to the Nepal Red Cross organization.
We have received many calls and emails from employees asking how they can help, and we now have established an American Red Cross International Services giving portal. This is a secure and reliable means for employees around the world to make monetary donations to assist with the response and recovery from this disastrous event.
To make a tax-deductible donation, visit: http://www.redcross.org/westerndigital-emp. Please note that to donate directly through this site, your donation must be made in U.S. dollars with an accepted major credit card. Major credit cards are those bearing an American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa logo. If you do not have an accepted major credit card, or cannot make a donation in U.S. dollars, the site has information on how to donate through the Red Cross or Red Crescent Society in your country. Please note that the Foundation donation is a pre-match to employee donations, so it is not necessary to provide us with a receipt. Thank you for your generosity.
Help make a difference in the tragic devastation that has occurred in the lives of so many people, and donate today.
Regards,
Rose Krupp
