Establishment program: Inconvenience is continuously cited as
a major barrier toward recycling and convenience as a major
motivator. Many variables were identified as affecting recycling
behavior, including concern for the environment. Some examples
that contribute to the voluntary behavior of recycling and
waste separation are the belief that this practice can reduce
waste/preserve landfill space and that recycling is good for the
environment and future generations. The major obstacles are
the inconvenience of being time-consuming, a lack of facilities
and inadequate storage as well as handling problems (Perrin and
Barton, 2001). Some factors that can enhance this behavior are
convenience in terms of sufficient storage space (Barr and Gilg,
2005) and good service provision by the local authority (Martin
et al., 2006).
In accordance to the relevant factors indicated above, this
study is set up facilities to collect and transport waste with
staff, supporting units, information centers and other facilitating
equipment. Each of volunteers for this program received small
bins for organic waste separation. The large organic waste collector
tanks were made available in each community an average
coverage of 10 households per tank, corresponding to twice the
estimated capacity of the observation concept
