Major damage to rail tracks was incurred in 3 sections,
· Section 1: Approximate length 700m. 600m embankment completed, last 100 meters of embankment in progress – to be followed by laying of rail line.
· Section 2: Approximate length 1.8 km. Approach for movement of tracked equipment under progress and embankment work yet to commence. Material such as rails and sleepers can only be moved by rail on completion of section 1 as approach by road is not feasible.
· Section 3: Approximate length 1.3 km. Work commenced on 29 June 2015 and is progressing well.
ü Estimated time for movement of trains to commence
· Under pilotage (slow movement over damaged sections) – July 14 2015
· Normal movement from July 21 2015.
ü Contingency in the interim for ICD containers – we suggest local customs clearance and movement by road for priority boxes, ASR charges by port for conversion from rail to road will be waived until commencement of rail movement.
Owing to Pipavav rail disruption, we’re unable to arrange rail movement for those I/B shipments which are on the way to Pipavav requiring rail connection to inland destinations. For this reason, as we would accept India ICD cargo as per below conditions only.
- Do not accept ICD shipment t/s via Pipavav (but local cargo only) until further notice
- Preferable gateway for ICD shipment is Mundra > Nhava Sheva > Pipavav and then we would change the transportation mode from “by rail” to “by truck”, and will bill them cost difference between truck and rail to customers.
