This chapter selects six popular and influential models that are frequentlyreferenced in the literature and widely used by researchers and practitioners.Two general models are included: Dervin’s gap-bridging model and Wilson’sinformation-seeking behavior model; two context-specific models: Byström andJärvelin’s work-task information need and seeking model and Savolainen’severyday life information-seeking (ELIS) model; and two descriptive processmodels of different user groups: Ellis’s behavior model derived from observingacademic researchers and Kuhlthau’s information search process model derivedfrom observing students.
