Air-dried C. wallichii roots (1.02 kg)
were extracted with acetone over a period of 3 days at room
temperature and evaporated under reduced pressure to provide the
crude acetone extract (18.68 g). This extract was subjected to QCC
over Si gel and subsequently eluted with increasing polarity of the
elution solvent system of hexanes and EtOAc (100% hexanes to 100%
EtOAc) to afford five fractions (A−E).
