The extraction and chemical structure study of cellulose in this research werw analyzed using coconut fiber reconditioning process with the chemical method.
coconut fiber was soaked in sodium hydroxide.
Then passed through the bleaching process with sodium chlorite.
From these processes and under optimum to conditions, lignin and hemicelluloses eliminated but cellulose still remain in the fibers.
After that hydrolized the fiber by sulfuric acide to recieved crystalline cellulose.
The percent yield product was about 7.25 % and the chemical structure of the extracted cellulose was confirmed by ATR-FTIR technique.
FTIR spectra of cellulose of extracted cellulose and cellulose standard shown the similar characteristic peaks, indicated successful extraction of cellulose from coconut fiber.
