Ethanol, a cheap and safe solvent, has a strong affinity to the
lipid complex, which implies that lipids can be extracted
efficiently. Fajardo et al.11 used an ethanol-based method for
extracting lipids from drying microalga Phaeodactylum
tricornutum (P. tricornutum) efficiently. Gonzalez et al.12
extracted lipids from wet microalga P. tricornutum UTEX 640
using ethanol at high temperature. However, in these studies,
dewatering or high temperature was required in the extraction
procedure. In a previous study, we proposed a novel method
using ethanol with gentle stirring for extracting lipids from wet
microalga at room temperature and pressure.13 According to
the proposed method, lipids were extracted from wet microalga
