Two alternative methods can be used to obtain the camera characterization which
includes the spectral method which uses the spectra] lights as stimuli and the target
method which uses a standard color target under the controlled lighting condition For
measuring the digital camera color performance as suggested by lSOl?32l-l (2006).
The spectral sensitivity based characterization measurement can be obtained by using a
light source and a monochromator generating limited wavelengths of an interest as
stimuli to evenly illuminate a reflective surface of selected color patches, and then the
measurement ofthese illuminated surface can be obtained for each selected wavelength
using a radiance or irradiance meter in comparison with the one obtained from the
digital camera. Finally, a relationship between the camera spectral sensitivity and the
ClE color matching function then can be found.
