4. Integrated data management approach
If we want to integrate both the data-on-network
and the data-on-tag concept, we need to determine how
to keep both sets of data (data-on-network and the
temporary stored data-on-tag) consistent. The concept
of the “personal servers” poses a similar problem and
is briefly introduced in the following.
Personal servers are mobile systems that manage
the user’s personal data. The user is able to access his
personal data at any location and in a transparent
fashion. These devices contain data storage where you
can store all or part of your personal data. As opposed
to other mobile devices, these personal servers do not
offer a user interface. Rather, they use user interfaces
that are available in the current situation of the user.
Due to data protection and limited storage capacity, it
is necessary to keep the personal data in centralized
data storages [31]. If we compare this system with the
