Finally, size distribution observed in sheltered areas showed a lack of juveniles in sites R2 and R3, both for P. depressa (Fig. 2) and P. vulgata (Fernández et al., 2015). This can be pointing to lower recruitment due to worse conditions for assessment, or poor connectivity. This information suggests caution in order to avoid overexploitation in sheltered areas. It is necessary to obtain information about rates of recruitment and factors determining them, particularly having in mind that these areas become more attractive for exploitation, because of the ease of shell-fishing and the larger size and energy condition at a given size of limpets in these areas.
