Today we went to DANA to meeting about the Fixed Prop shaft Of TA model because they found the problem which I ever asked you about Torque of Castle nut when They turn the Castle nut dent to same direction of Split pin of shaft. Torque is about 1100-1250 N/m. The specification of Castle nut of TA model that is 670-900 N/m.
After they informed the problem , we request them to shown us in production by following.
1. Tighten Castle nut at Min. Torque 670 N/m. the nut dent is not same hole position then we tried to tighten until same hole which about 20-25 degree. The torque is about 1100-1250 N/m.
2.
3. We tried to test by tighten pre-load which about 550-600 N/m. which nut dent is same hole position after tighten more until other nut dent is same the next hole. Torque is same item 1. ( 1100-1250 N/m. )
4.
We tried 4 Prop shafts. We found 3 shaft which torque over standard as above.
The question which I would like to advise us.
1. Could you please send us the procedure to tighten the castle hut of prop shaft?
2. In case the torque is out standard when the nut dent is same hole. What condition which MFTBC accept at Lower standard ( torque about 550-600 N/m.) or over standard ( Torque 1100-1250 N/m)? Could you please explain us about the failure of each case?
Now we request DANA to control at over torque condition which they can do in small dia. shaft. but for TA model will effect to their production because their nut runner machine can set Maximum torque at 1,000 N/m. Now they tighten TA model prop shaft by manual torque wrench.
