Conclusion
In order to achieve the quality of an herbal medicine, the
qualitative and quantitative phytochemical analyses play
an important role. In this way, an analytical methodology
by UV-Vis spectrophotometry was developed and validated
to quantify phytosterols in the roots of A. hispidum and their
extracts. The analytical procedure was validated at 625 nm
showing linearity and could be considered robust, precise, and
accurate under the conditions studieds. The analytical method
using UV-Vis spectrophotometry therefore constitutes an
alternative tool that is useful, low in cost and easy to perform,
for employment in full quality control of total phytosterols in
roots of A. hispidum and their extracts.
