This is the first report of using an
antagonistic bacterial culture for minimizing
growth of the wilt-causing bacteria, Ralstonia
solanacearum, isolated from Patummas. The
antagonistic bacteria are now under investigation
for suitable formulation for use in
Patumma fields, including a delivery system
and shelf-life of the antagonistic bacteria in
formulations. In order to encourage farmers
to be more interested in using a bio-control,
preparations should be simple, low cost as
well as prevention and protection of the crops
against R. solanacearum infection.
