Based on the analysis on the current PV module structure, Doi et al. [72] developed an improved Double Encapsulation Module structure which is proven to be easier to disassemble and have a recyclable rate over 97%. Li et al. [73] proposed a novel double-encapsulation module with an optical coupler (DEMOC) module design that allows re-using c-Si solar cells from the end-of-life PV modules while minimizing the electrical performance loss due to additional optical reflection compared to the standard encapsulation scheme. Arranz et al. [74] presented the measures that are taken in the demonstration of the photovoltaic (PV) case study developed within the European project "Towards Zero Waste in Industrial Networks (Zero WIN)" integrating the D4R (Design for Recycling, Repair, Refurbishment and Reuse) criteria. This study presented the developed power conditioning, the Li-ion battery system and industrial symbioses to be demonstrated within the final PV power plants.
