Kung Krabaen Bay is truly the place for nature lovers where they can enjoy bird watching and see many species of flora in unspoilt mangrove swamps. The area is a highly diverse ecosystem and is the habitat and nursery for marine fauna. It the site of a Royal Development Centre to reforest sapling Rhizophora trees. There is also a wooden nature trail leading you into the mangrove. Visitors can enjoy the shady cool of the mangrove canopy whilst reading about the various plants and trees.
Kung Krabaen Bay is located in Moo 4, Klong Kood sub district, Tha Mai district, Chanthaburi.
It is only 25 kilometres away from central Chanthaburi off the Tha Mai – Ban Mo Road.
Attractions around Kung Krabaen Bay
Discover an endangered animal known among the locals as moo dud (dugong or sea cow) that used to inhabit the shallow seacoast before their gradual decline. However, it is fortunate that conservation was successful and they can be seen again. In addition, you may find tiny fiddler crabs with one huge bright-coloured pincer.
Another interesting place to visit is the Royal Marine Sanctuary Kung Krabaen that opens daily (except Monday) from 8.30 – 16.30.
The comfortable temperatures in November to May makes these months perfect for camping, and campers can either hire a tent from the Department of Forestry for 80 THB or pay 20 THB if bringing their own. Otherwise, there are lots of nice accommodation around Kung Krabaen Bay and nearby beaches, like Chao Lao beach, Khum Wimarn beach and Laem Sadej beach.
