Hi Jame Norton
Thank you for your mail.
I just finished reading it.
OK, let me try to answer.
The plot in short as I see it now:
The millionaire is having a vacation in a beautiful tropical resort. One
day he’s going on a sailing trip with some of his companions. Among the
workers of the ship is the heroine. They end up having a boating accident.
The millionaire and the heroine have to depend on each other to survive and
find their way back to the safety of the tropical resort. There are many
angles here to make the story come to life. The point, of course, is that
they grow closer together through their trials and the romance slowly
unfolds. The enormous differences in lifestyle and background give ample
opportunity for conflict and overcoming faith.
At this stage, I know no names of the characters, as usually you get to
know them while writing. It is my experience that it generally is best to
not work from within too strict a context. I think it’s best to allow the
characters to start living their own lives and the writer keeps them on
course in the general direction. For me, it’s difficult at this stage to
say, in chapter 4 this and that will happen, and then in chapter 5, they do
such and such. For me, writing is like a treasure hunt and you discover as
you go. In my latest short story, I had the general direction which I
followed. However, while writing new ideas came up that strengthened the
story, and simply made it much better. It changed some of my original
ideas, but now the story is much better. (It's a Christian drama in which
the client wanted me to write about a selfish career woman who leaves her
husband and child in favor of her career)
For the same reason, I would rather not come up with a title yet. The best
titles (in my opinion) come up after the story is finished. That way you
can nail it just right. I would almost be certain, any title I come up with
now will change
I usually plan my story in blocks, so I will not veer from the general
direction. However, but what will really happen within these blocks, and
the details will only be revealed once I get there.
You asked for a sample.
Didn’t you get my sample chapter?
I will send you some more chapters of the same book. I am hesitant to
freely send out whole stories as they are no longer my property.
Hope that answers your questions.
I am open to suggestions or wishes if I were to write your story.
