n Brazil there is a belief that is good to wear white clothes on Fridays.
White butterfly brings good luck. If you see it at the beginning of the year, you'll be happy all year.
One should never kill a cat, because they will have bad luck for seven years.
Do not keep birds at home because it can bring death.
Sea shells are a symbol of happiness, so it is good to have them with you.
The tooth of a shark also brings good luck to anyone who has it.
One superstitiously believing in Brazil, says that's good to have a tumbler full of rock salt in the corner of the house.
If you want to have enough money, then you should have the figure of an elephant in the house. But be sure to turn it back toward the door.
It is also good for you if you find a horseshoe. It brings happiness, so keep it with you.
Now, superstition about money and coffee. Brazil is a land of coffee, so here's an interesting belief about it. When you make coffee, always put the sugar in the cup before the coffee - and one day you'll become a rich man.
Never put a purse on the floor, because you will become a poor man.
When you move, take all your things with you, except broom. Forget it and buy new broom for your new home.
Walking on a ladder and passing under a ladder, brings misfortune.
In Brazil, as in most countries, it is not a good sign if you break the mirror.
Never give someone a knife, because you will have quarrel with that person.
Finally, here are the Brazilian superstition about New Year's Day. If you want to have money all year, you need to eat lentils on the 1st January. If you want to be happy all year, Brazilian people will tell you that you need to wear white clothes on New Year's Eve.
This is all my superstitious beliefs from Brazil.
