The economic benefit of using n-pentane regeneration of
exhausted activated carbon
Adopting n-pentane for exhausted activated carbon regeneration
in coking wastewater treatments cannot only further improve
coking wastewater treatment but can also result in the recovery
and utilisation of some of the organic compounds found in coking
wastewater. According to n-pentane consumption in the process of
regeneration (0.1%, 6000 Yuan/ton in China), the cost of n-pentane
could be calculated at 1.87 Yuan/ton wastewater (without considering
the energy consumption). If the organic compounds dissolved
in n-pentane could be recycled, the cost for the wastewater treatment
would decrease further. Therefore, the economic benefit and
the engineering practicality of using n-pentane for exhausted activated
carbon regeneration still need to be studied in subsequent
research.
