Almost 8 out of every 10 nursing students had an exposure
to blood or body fluid during nursing, in the last one year
(Table 2). One-fifth of such exposures had occurred while
nursing HIV patients (Table 3). Exposure of intact skin to
blood/body fluid was the most common type of exposure
(64.1%) followed by needle prick (38.8%) and cut from sharp
instrument (35%). Many of students had multiple exposures.
Unfortunately, most of the exposures were not reported to
