Aedes mosquitoes rarely fly more than 100 m from their
breeding site and have a peculiar habit of breeding in artificial
accumulations of water in and around built up areas, thus
posing more of a threat to health in urban settings. The eggs of
the Aedes mosquito are very hardy, and survive drying for some period of time, hence it is very important to destroy, and
not merely dry the breeding sites.
