On the other hand, although villagers are more sensitive to solid
waste disposal and sanitation in the village, plastic bottles, plastic
bags and candy wrappers can be readily seen along portions of
hiking trails, and some campsites do not yet have adequate toilet
facilities. More important, since not all villagers belong to the
Chiphat ecotourism project, and thus not all benefit equally, some
have less incentive to give up environmentally destructive subsistence
practices such as hunting, charcoal production and swidden
agriculture.
