Mathematics
The middle school Mathematics program aims to enable students to:
• Understand the relationships between mathematics and other disciplines and applications of mathematics;
• Develop fluency in operations and algebraic skills;
• Recognize and solve problems in daily life;
• Analyze data, make estimations and predictions;
• Develop a positive, constructive attitude and analytical approach towards mathematics and appreciate the beauty of mathematics;
• Create cooperative and collaborative environments in which students work together and communicate using mathematical language to solve problems using a variety of methods, tools and technology;
• Develop visual and spatial understanding of basic geometrical concepts and enhance understanding of 2D and 3D geometrical figures.
The high school Mathematics program aims to enable students to:
• Understand the relationships between mathematics and other disciplines and applications of mathematics;
• Recognize and define problems in daily life by observing, collecting and analyzing data and make predictions about future using technology and mathematical modeling where necessary;
• Use computer software or graphing calculators to analyze mathematical functions and their behavior;
• Develop a positive, constructive attitude and analytical approach towards mathematics and appreciate its beauty;
• Create cooperative and collaborative environments in which students work together and communicate using mathematical language to solve problems using a variety of methods, tools and techniques;
• Develop visual and spatial understanding of geometrical concepts by using theorems, proofs, and computer software;
• Develop fluency in algebraic skills.
