The world of health technology is changing rapidly, driven by the convergence of professional and personal health solutions, the consumerization of healthcare and the digital revolution. Societies and individuals are looking for more effective and lower cost solutions in an increasingly connected world, and there is a need for Philips to step up our efforts across our customer and consumer touchpoints.

With this in mind, I am pleased to announce that Pieter Nota will take on, next to his role as CEO of Personal Health cluster of businesses, also the role as Chief Marketing Officer for Royal Philips with immediate effect. Pieter brings extensive marketing experience also from his prior leadership role as Chief Marketing & Innovation officer at Beiersdorf AG, and various marketing roles at Unilever.

Given this change, Richard Wergan, Head of Brand, Communications & Digital, will report to Pieter Nota as per January 1, 2016, building on important steps taken in recent years to integrate marketing, communications and digital capabilities across our organization and further strengthen the Philips brand.

By creating an enterprise-wide marketing leadership role, and appointing Pieter, we aim to deliver customer and consumer insight-driven innovation to win in the market. We will leverage digital marketing opportunities and position ourselves as a brand with B2B, B2G and B2C customers and consumers, driving global brand preference and conversion. We will drive marketing excellence and improve our marketing capabilities across our organization, and grow marketing talent within Philips.

I am also pleased to announce the reconfiguration of our Health Systems 1 cluster of businesses, to bring together our software assets and patient care expertise within a cluster named Connected Care & Health Informatics.

This cluster will consist of:
• BG Patient Care & Monitoring Solutions, led by Carla Kriwet;
• BG Emerging Businesses, led by Krishna Kumar;
• a reconfigured BG Healthcare Informatics Solutions & Services (HISS), led by Jeroen Tas consisting of our activities in Healthcare IT, Health Suite Digital Platform and Healthcare Transformation Services; and
• a new BG Population Health Management, led by Caroline Clarke, combining our activities in Personal Health Solutions, Hospital to Home, and Home Monitoring.
This cluster will be led by Jeroen Tas, reporting to me.

The establishment of the Connected Care & Health Informatics cluster of businesses ensures we will be even better equipped to connect consumers/patients and their care providers through the Cloud, supported by (big) data analytics, digital platforms and clinical support applications, and focused on better health outcomes and economics. With this cluster, we will speed up business growth, create synergy across customer propositions, integrate architectures, and strengthen software and cloud service capabilities across the cluster portfolio. The P&L ownership will continue to remain at the individual BGs and will be managed as such by the responsible BG leaders.

I welcome the establishment of the new BG Population Health Management and am pleased to announce Caroline Clarke as its leader. We are uniquely positioned to help reshape and optimize population health management, and will maximize this opportunity and our capabilities in this area by bringing together our activities in Personal Health Solutions, Hospital to Home, and Home Monitoring.

It’s a great recognition of our solid business foundation and depth of talent that we are able to fill these key positions internally.
