PUF-metal-thiocyanate system has been studied in column and batch process. Moody et al. [14]reported the sorption of Co(II), Fe(III), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Mn(II) from potassium thiocyanate solution by polyether type PUF. Hamon et al. [15]published a detailed investigation about Co(II) sorption from thiocyanate medium using cut cubes of PUF (1.3 cm edge) in a squeezing procedure. Carvalho et al. [16]used the system PUF-thiocyanate to separate Co(II) from Fe(III) in a rapid spectrophotometric determination of Co in steel alloys by using powdered PUF in batch procedure. Hamza et al. [17]used PUF treated with dithizone for quantitative collection of Zn(II) and Bi(III) from aqueous media for their determination. Recently, Jesus et al. [18]employed the PUF-thiocyanate system to preconcentrate zinc traces from cadmium matrices and determined this element by spectrophotometry. Maloney et al. [19]proposed the sorption of Ni(II) and Bi(III) from solutions containing thiourea by tributyl phosphate supported on polyurethane foam. Lee and Halmann [20]reported the nickel extraction using polyurethane foam loaded with dimethylglioxime.
