My data collection team and I collected data for this investigation by giving the
CUCEI (the College and University Classroom Environment Inventory) survey, audio
taping class sessions, writing in a researcher’s journal, observing class, taking field notes,
soliciting written student reflections on their experiences in the course, conducting
individual student interviews, and conducting student focus groups. The quantitative data
were analyzed using exploratory analysis techniques including observing patterns in
means and standard deviations. Also, t-test hypothesis tests were performed and
multivariate statistical analysis was used to look for significant relationships between
aspects of the learning environments.
