In the twenty first century, the glocal is a factor influencing the very shape of
higher education worldwide. As Patel and Lynch (2013) noted, glocalization in
higher education offers an alternative to the conventional strategy of internationalization.
It embraces third culture building, thereby promoting global community
building. Thus, it offers a strategy that encourages the enhancement of the learners’
glocal experience through a critical academic and cultural exchange of global and
local socio-economic and political issues.
